I know from my own experience that I'm way more inclined to do something if it's interesting to me, and it's definitely the same for children.Clickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09478761820331036869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-89022034516124042572015-04-12T04:19:48.666-07:002015-04-12T04:19:48.666-07:00I've been reading one of Temple Grandin's ...I've been reading one of Temple Grandin's books and she really advocates using a child's interests and obsessions to engage them in learning. It just makes sense to use something they already like to teach them about the world. It shows the practical application of their lessons too. Particularly important for older children who think school is boring.Jo who can't think of a clever nicknamehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02663450738390351663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-75686573768353389682015-04-10T12:09:45.404-07:002015-04-10T12:09:45.404-07:00I also wish we could have more teaching freedom bu...I also wish we could have more teaching freedom but unfortunately you always have to have one eye on the end of term tests that will "measure" how well a child has learnt and your success as a teacher!! As you can imagine it is a nightmare for those of us who are measured on the success of our children with special educational needs on a level playing field with their peers who do not have such learning difficulties!!!SENCO Cat Herderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16026889857534425125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-18054567859286911482015-04-10T10:56:10.810-07:002015-04-10T10:56:10.810-07:00It's AMAZING how much work our teachers put in...It's AMAZING how much work our teachers put in to our children...so much behind the scenes work. I wish the curriculum allowed more leeway for the teachers to put more of their own creativity into their lesson plans.
TheCyborgMomTheCyborgMomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14566379902847952987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-78590897843159647562015-04-10T04:57:22.304-07:002015-04-10T04:57:22.304-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.SENCO Cat Herderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16026889857534425125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-33683418560383264422015-04-10T04:57:21.698-07:002015-04-10T04:57:21.698-07:00I think it differs greatly, Yvonne and I also thin...I think it differs greatly, Yvonne and I also think the amount of money invested by country, region, school, parents also makes a significant difference to the outcomes for those children!SENCO Cat Herderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16026889857534425125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-10776234300844135702015-04-10T04:44:27.268-07:002015-04-10T04:44:27.268-07:00Thanks, Pempi, for another interesting post.
