The one I remember best was a ferret we had in our high school biology room. I guess that’s what happens when you live in rural farm country. One of my sister’s classrooms had geckos. Our library in elementary school had a fish tank with one fish. (Because that one fish ate all the other fish.) My mom was a teacher, and her classroom had butterflies. They set the butterflies free when they got big enough.

Aj @ Read All The Things!Aj @ Read All The Things!https://www.blogger.com/profile/02860483414620371093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-66230597602513284632017-04-21T23:20:33.097-07:002017-04-21T23:20:33.097-07:00I don't think it is old fashioned at all to th...I don't think it is old fashioned at all to think about animal welfare, Yvonne and obviously animals in schools need to be very well looked after. In my experience it was usually gerbils and hamsters and they seemed to like the attention they received but I am sure all animals would prefer to be free if given a choice :)SENCO Cat Herderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16026889857534425125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-44727179817736070312017-04-21T23:15:46.923-07:002017-04-21T23:15:46.923-07:00Yes we also watched frog spawn turn into little fr...Yes we also watched frog spawn turn into little frogs and some of the early years (at schools I taught at) had butterfly life-cycles in their classrooms :)SENCO Cat Herderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16026889857534425125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-64511650250827631952017-04-21T23:13:01.866-07:002017-04-21T23:13:01.866-07:00It just shows how different things happen in diffe...It just shows how different things happen in different places - always interesting to learn :)SENCO Cat Herderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16026889857534425125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-14771654773175939432017-04-21T13:54:34.648-07:002017-04-21T13:54:34.648-07:00I adore cats and dogs and animals in general but d...I adore cats and dogs and animals in general but don't like to see some in cages especially at school. And there were snakes :) which co-existed happily within the school premises (this was West Africa in places and times when the animal life wasn't completely dispossessed by human population yet)

Best wishes,
Nilanjana.
Madly-in-Verse
Nilanjana Bosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08656370320322301943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952148482813126649.post-25998924429504423792017-04-21T10:43:35.251-07:002017-04-21T10:43:35.251-07:00Wow, classroom pets?
