This week I am celebrating:
My husband sorting out and booking our summer holiday. This usually falls to me and is often a bit of a seat of the pants affair as I tend to book villas or cottages privately owned so you're never too sure what to expect (they've actually always been brilliant but you still feel really nervous until you actually arrive and see it for yourself). We are going to Lisbon for the first time and both of the children are able to come too which is truly wonderful now they are this age and No. 1 son is in his first job. So there is a LOT to celebrate!!
Delivery of supplies to build garden planters. We need to get the courtyard looking much nicer than it is and the cost of enough large wooden planters would be exorbitant so we decided to bite the bullet and have a go at making some using decking. Sourcing what we need for the best price has not been easy but today it has finally all arrived! The lorry was too big to come down the drive so I had to help carry it all down to our courtyard with the delivery driver and then store it away in the garage after he left - boy am I glad I have been working my arm muscles recently - 2.4m planks of decking are heavy when you're lifting three at a time and the concrete blocks needed as well literally weigh a tonne (altogether).
Kitten learning to climb DOWN trees. Itty Bitty Kitty (IBK) has recently learnt how to climb up trees but the ladder has had to be brought into active service along with my taller husband to get her down when she gets stuck! Today it seems she has got the hang of coming down - although I wish she'd come down backwards like bears do rather than nose first!
I've had a lovely week with many moments worth celebrating as I hope you have also - let me know what's been happening in your neck of the woods - where are you going on holiday? What are you doing in your garden? What new skills have been learnt by who this week? Go on - you know I'd love to know :)
Richard always planned our vacations. Down to the smallest details. And we had wonderful trips. Although there were times I wished he allowed for some open time!!ReplyDelete
Yes I like being able to take it how it comes rather than a rigid plan but it's also quite nice to see what sights we might want to go and visit so we'll be checking out Lisbon via travel guides and the internet :)Delete
Congrats on sorting your upcoming holiday and being able to have the kids along! Yay for new planter for the courtyard. When they're all finished, I hope to see a picture! I've never seen a cat come down a tree nose first. How funny!ReplyDelete
Yes - fingers crossed I'll be able to take some pics soon so you can see WIP as we go along and the changes as they happen!! Or you'll get to see a lot of broken planks made into a large bonfire in the middle of the courtyard!!Delete
Hopefully the kitty learns to crawl down again soon. I'm sure your courtyard will be worth it when you're done. and yay for holiday planning!ReplyDelete
Yes - now I have a house and cat sitter also booked in this holiday to Lisbon looks like one I can truly relax and enjoy :)Delete
Sounds like an excellent batch of stuff worth celebrating. We are going to Alaska in Sept. Quite excited for that. You shall have to post a pic of your courtyard when done.ReplyDelete
Wow - Alaska!! I look forward to your posts about how that goes and especially what you get to see!Delete
Sounds like you have a lot to celebrate this week! Lisbon sounds like a great place to go for a holiday, and how nice that your kids can come too!ReplyDelete
Yes being with both of the children will be wonderful and to be treasured as many people keep telling me :)Delete
Ahh how cool about the kitty learning to climb down trees.. mine isn't quite there yet and just meaows for help:) Lots of great things to celebrate this week.ReplyDelete
Yes hopefully your kitten will also learn this very useful skill soon although now and again my other ones can also get themselves stuck so I know it won't always be plain sailing :)Delete
I planned to do some gardening this weekend but the weather hasn't really been great here so maybe next weekend! I hope little kitty learns to climb down safely soon. I nearly freaked when I saw our cat sitting on the house roof but she got herself down without a problem so I think she has probably done it many times and I just hadn't noticed! Always nice to book a holiday . . . something to look forward to.ReplyDelete
Yes the gardening needs to be a priority as the weeds try to regain the upper hand whenever I leave them for more than a week - my veg & fruit patch is yet again filled with nettles that seemed to spring up over night!Delete
I've booked a lot of 'surprising' cottages over the years. The worst was in Yorkshire (usually one of my favourite destinations), where the place was filthy, there was no parking, so we had to carry our luggage and toddler miles, and then it rained.ReplyDelete
